Wah..Mann gaye Guru :P

Well, well well.here I am again on MS having sleepless nights, pondering over what to write. Finally I got a subject to write on - The movie Guru.Yes I know there have been many reviews written about it and I am tad bit late, but nevamind .i know u guys love me and will read my review on this one religiously:P

Oki .so here it goes:

Firstly lets talk about the people involved in the making of Guru

Mani Ratnam: Well what can be said about this genuis. He has proved his brilliance again in the form of technicality of the movie.Hats off the real guru  for making such an excellent movie. He has given us a lot of hit movies in the past years. His movies like Roja, Dil se, Bombay, Yuva have made us laugh, cry  and ponder over certain issues and now his recently released movie Guru which I am sure has already made a place in many people’s hearts. He has this knack to play with the Junta’s feeling. He doesnt decide the climax of the movie, instead he leaves it for people like us to judge it according to our own perceptions. What more can I say about this guy. U r simply superb Mani Ratnam jee.

A.R.Rehman: Do I even have to say the words? An awesome job again by this guy. All the songs right from the sizzling Mayya mayya to Ash’s entry Barso re followed by Baazi laga, tere bina, ey hairathe, ek lo ek muft  are a treat to the ears. Not to forget his inspirational song Jaage hai  blended with Gulzar’s heart wrenching lyrics which leaves u with a lump in the throat.

jaage hain deer tak

hamen kuch deer sone do

thodi se raat aur hai

subah to hone do

aadhe adhure khwaab jo

pure na ho sake

ek baar phir se neend mein

woh khwaab bone do

What wonderful https://lyrics.the words are still lingering in my mind

Abhishek Bachhan: He has shown a lot of maturity in this role. He has different shades to his character in this movie playing a witty young  guy in the beginning of the movie n progressing to play a stubborn business tycoon in the later half of the movie. He has a perfect body language in the movie potraying an aggressive gujju bhai with a belly. Also a lot of traces can be found of Amitabh bachhan in some of the scenes. This role is one of his best performances so far and I am sure he will bag the best actor award for this one.

Aishwarya Rai: I am not too fond of her as an actress, but this time I must say she has proved everyone wrong with her acting skills. Right from playing in the rain &  on the swing and the transformation from an innocent chulbuli aish to the perfect wife material in the second half of the movie is awesome. She has potrayed all the emotions: love, anger, hatred n anxiety with perfection.

Aish - abhi chemistry: They have a very good chemistry right from the start of the movie in the train scene where they meet, the other scene where she is swinging on a jhula when abhishek enters, the swinging scene where abhishek talks about his dreams to her and also the mock fight on the bed.

Madhavan: He has a very neat role in this movie. Playing an honest reporter and good husband he carries it off really well.

Vidya Balan: She doesnt really have much to do in the movie, but the short role that was given to her was enacted very well. Right from expressing her love to Madhavan and expressing her longing to live life to the fullest, provoking abhishek and making him cry, she has done everything with a perfection.

Mithun Da: I was in for a surprise. He has made a great comeback and handles the character with a lot of emotion and sensitivity. Check out the first scene in which he meets abhishek for the first time, the scene where he tells madhavan abt guru being admittted in the hospital.

Rajeev Menon: Perfect cinemtaography right from showing aish swinging on the jhula to the masjid bunder sets, capturing the wonderful scenery when aish is running away from her home in the twilight. This movie wouldnt have been complete without his wonderful cinematography

Now that we have analysed all the characters lets move on the the real plot of the movie

The plot:

This movie is inspired by the industrialist and the business tycoon late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani and it is based on his biography. Surprisingly not everything is related to his real life story. A few changes have been made here and there just to make it more fictious, but one can easily relate it to Shri Dhirubhai Ambani. Abhishek Plays Gurukant Desai who hails from a small village in gujurat. He goes against his dad’s wishes and goes to Istanbul to make a living. After learning all the tricks of the business he lands up in bombay with a wife and 25000 rs which he gets as a dowry to start his own business. Initially he faces a lot of problems starting his own business, but  with his wittiness he is able to start his new business. He soon starts becoming popular among others and opens his own factory. He climbs up the ladder to become one of the powerful, aggresive business tycoon in india. In this process he makes lot of enemies too who are determined to bring him down.  In the end he cleverly defends all the charges that the government officials have made against him and manages to escape cleverly.

Some of my favourite scenes from the movie

When Abhishek meets Aish for the first time in the train

  • When abhishek meets mithun for the first time

  • When he goes to the IAS officer’s house

  • The mock fight between aish & abhishek

  • The kissing scene between Madhavan and Vidya balan .(ooo.was too hot to handle.i am sure most of the guys want to slap Madhavan for that:P)

  • The courtroom scene

So dats all about this movie and thats what I call a perfect dissection of a perfect movie.
