"inspiring, motivating, fast paced tale of rags.."

The Guru is a tale of a small village kid dreaming of hitting it big and then actually executing his dream. You can trace back the events of Guru to the lifetime of Dhirubhai Ambani with the usual constraints of bollywood thrown in. The camerawork and screenplay needs to be really apperciated and acknowledged However, It did seem Inspired.I think rathnam is greatly inspired by martin scorsese.also I could not help not comparing this to The Aviator. I think this is first or atleast for me the first movie I ve seen which is a sort of a biogrpahy though it snt cause the director’s disclaimer in the beginning and other bollwyood masla.

Now with the story-Gurukant Desai is a boy from sometown in Gujrat.i think Jamnagar but I cant make that assumption. He goes to turkey while dhirubhai goes to yemen but they both work for shell and they both went at young age.here guru goes cause he failed in his secondary school exam.moving on he gets promoted at a faster rate than his current supervisor he decided to quit and goes back to his village when he confronts his dad with his idea and decided to go on his own and decided he has to raise money for his business, so marries aishwarya rai for the dowry he would recieve.soon after goes to mumbai and goes to the stock exchange and here is where the execution begins.with his zeal to succeed he impresses contractor( reminded me of wadias: can it be just in my mind) and a leftist newspaper editor who later turns against him due to his aggressive capitalistic business model and thats how the story eveolves.quite impressive.a good bollywood movie after a long time.

I have many problems though with the movie.the era in the movie looked like the 30’s and 40’s especially in turkey, though a time period wasnt mentioned: I think)  there was no post war effect shown plus the songs, aishwarya rai(though i’d love to see her in every scene), the editors daughter  was’nt neccesary. I dont see the latter relationship effecting him or the character development and there was no character development in the movie at all. I would expect him to grow bigger, mature, smarter, more shrewd and more ruthless as time progresses cause every leader evolves and numerous things influence even at his highest point. I would ve liked abhishek to act more of a orator.he acted well with his experience and exposure he had. the last part of the commision some parts were irrevelant and any commission in reality would ignore it cause there would ve been prepared for it.too much rhetorhic there

The good part is surely the soundtrack would loved the songs to disappear though but the soundtrack was impressive.was’nt mis or overused.another its a big leap into the era of biographies and or a story of a personalties.so we are moving at the right direction.such movies would not bring in the dough but its important for it exist.do see the movie cause it s important you see it
