Guru is going to make history in many terms. I bet. First, its story line.
It;s the story of Indias biggest company, Relaince and its Mentor, Dhrubhai Ambani.
Secondly, after yuva, deadly combo of Mani Sir ( he the best director at present who is of Hrishikesh Mukherji calibre and this why I call him sir.)
and Abhishek.
Further, after long time Rehman comes to Mani sir and that too with Gulzars pen!
And you know what happenes ... Not Less than Pure Magic...adn a very satisying music by the team.
Not a single song in this album will look even a pinch less than surprising and refreshingly new.
Barso Re: Song starts with vocal melody of Shreya Ghosal with sensuality with strings use..and drums take over. Precision tools and electric drums.
And then Shreya Ghosal starts playing with the voice modulation so stragely that you fall in love with this lady. She is so much teasing.
A song high on electric fusion with drums and trademark AR rehmans dafli playing in background with broad range of symphony. Voice modulation
is the biggest surprise of this song. This is genius job.
Then comes "Humdum Bin tere Kya Jeena" sung by Rehman .."tere bina besuwadi ratiyan" where gulzars pure awadhi love reflects.
After long time you will hear sucha brilliant soulful birha song. Guitars and table with jingles. Rehmans voice just elevate the song as he goes pure sofiyana in this one.
This song has touch of his two earlier creations : Zubaidas "dil ke ye zid hai dil ka ye kehna" and Sathiyas "Doston se Jhooti Mooti". But this one is better tha both.
you will fall in love simply. Touches heart till to the bottom. Fusion is also there and awadhi dilect really creates magic. Bravo rehman and Ghulzar.
Comes now "Maaiyye Maiyye" with arabian slow entry..chorus follows...then comes heavy drums. A very strange and beautiful experimentation with rubbing drums
tunes. And then you hear fast beat drums. this song is a great song becuase it is an experiment where three different genres Rehman has taken with brilliannce.
He gives an egyptian feel while Punjabi bhangra goes behind and finally a race between Gujrati and egyptian ad punjabi..drawing homology betwen these three different
worlds of music. With this song Rehman proves that he is simply the best and gifted talent. you just listen and you will be in awe of this guys courage to experiemnt and
come up with something brilliant. Many singers comes in it and the female lead starts teasing module. Of course here too you see lots of modulation. Superb +.
MouthOrgan + tabla+ jingle and soft electric guitar starts the number "E Hairat -e- Ishq". Rehman and Hariharan has given it love and care to nurture this beutiful song..which is something between ghazal, pop and sufiyana. terrific. He then uses violin with symphony. Alka Yagnik is there. This is another experimentation by Rehman which hits Jackpot!
Comes Chitras voice in melody ..starting slowly..melody pure...the beauty of this song lies in its lyrics of typical Ghulzar style. And slowly and gradually, symphony of opera kind takes over. Piano and huge sets of violin play with brilliant lyrics of Ghulzar. The enters AR Rehman. Title is "Jaage hain der tak Humme kuch Der sone do thodi si raat aur hai subah to hone do....aadhe adhoori khwab jo poore na ho sake..ek baar fir se neend me wo khwab bone do". A very heart touching number if you consider it the theme song of Dhirubhai Ambani, when he dies.
Last song which I heard ... full funky song "ek lo ek muft lo"..Guzrati bangali and Santhal music. Poora piyakkar song. Bappi Lehri haas done really good job. It is tribal fusion. Not that appealing though.
I did not listen just one song. I could not get it.
If Rehman is considered best, with Guru, this man is going to join Mani Rathnam team to mark his stamp of supermacy again. He was with flaw in last album but not this time. The Guru team looks to write history in Indian cinema in every means. Take my words. This is the best music and among the best scores of Rehman, and simply the best music of this year. Total return and value of money. They are really Guru. Eagerly waiting for the movie release now.
