Guwahati is the doorway to North-east situated on the South bank of the river Brahmaputra.Guwahati is not properly planned city and this make it worst to visit during rainy season. Most of the areas are partly submerged by water due lack of proper drainage system.
The city is very congested and the streets are narrow too, however it is well connected to all the major cities of India via airways, railways and roadways. In my opinion the best time to visit this city is the Winter season when there is no or little rainfall. If you happen to come to Guwahati dont forget to visit Shillong and cherrapunji as Shillong is around 110km away from Guwahati.
Beside this there are numerous sightseeing in and around Guwahati, some places to visit are as follows-Kamakhya temple, Umananda temple, Balaji temple, Basistha temple, Accoland, Dreamland amusement park, Deepor lake, Digholi pukhuri park and many more. For your stay there are many hotels from basic to luxury according to your budget.
