Blink and you might miss this one. Eight years and still going strong to Guzzlers Inn, Bangalore. I still remember the first time to Guzzlers Inn(GI), Eight years ago, when I was a student of SJCC, every second afternoon we would end up in GI, Thanks to happy hours, Rs 5 a tap , Nope, I am not kidding, and now Rs. 25 a tap , what a leap, but its worth every drop of the Draught Beer, thats what I always have in GI.
GI offers good eats and drinks in a dimly lit setting, complete with three television sets, and a bar and and couple of bar tables. My snacks usually consists of finger chips, potato chips, paneer pakoda, sandwiches, and that does the saturday night magic. One thing we had to admit though, the waiters were pretty friendly and didnt try to give us the cold shoulder even though we were obviously not the kind whod open the taps and let the money flow.
This January when I was in Bangalore, a friend of mine and I stopped at the GI. After driving around for a few minutes to find a parking space, we trekked in. Well the parking is quite full here, we had a tough time parking our car, its always preferable to be here on a two wheeler though.
The pub had changed its menu since my last visit, but luckily, my favorite appetizer, the paneer pokoda, still numbered among the choices. The same people who own the GI Pub also own the Pool room just above the GI Pub. One thing I love the most about the GI Pub is they play loads of great rock and grunge music. One can get to hear Buffalo Soldiers to Macarena and then when the mood changes to Country upon requests from Guzzlers.
The biggest problem is that pubs have to shut down by 11 pm, but if you happen to know the owner of the GI, you could hanging in around after 11pm, its just that they close down the shutters while you could be busy partying
inside. Its the place to be with loads of never ending Rock music, specially after a long tiring week.
Well, its place to hang around with your friends. Beer, snacks and other drinks can be served in the Pool room, while you try your luck on pool, just make sure your not drunk while you hold the cue stick and try the wrong ball instead ;-).
Cheers ...
