Introduction
You can understand from a 2 km distance , Its a traditional English style Club.
You step in the Gymkhana Club..and you’ll see a huge lounge with many tables with a set of four people on each of them. They all play bridge here everyday. I bet..you’ll be the most young guy/gal out there coz none of them is less than 60.
You’ll find mostly stiffed upper lip Senior Citizens here, although at times you can find some of the Army officers as well. Nothing is available here on cash payment, but you have to sign bill with your membership number.
I usually go there to swim. Swimming pool is nice and clean..but it’s too small. Charges for Swimming are seperate. Its 30/- per day or 250/- per month.
Other Facilities
Barber + Massage Center+ Beauty Parlour : A nice A/C saloon and massage parlour attached with the gents room. Beauty Parlour with Ladies room.
Garden + A/C Restaurant : Only thing thats the best here is its food. No where else in Chennai can you find such a mouth watering north Indian dinner.
They have a Garden Restaurant and an A/C restaurant on first floor. (P.S. ==> Snacks are strictly not served after 8 pm). They have Punjabi, South Indian and Chinese items. Paneer Tikka masala is the delicacy out there.
But then, service is pathetic...
Waiters don’t give you a damn, if you are not regular here. On weekends you can hardly find a place to sit.
Library : Mostly fictions are available, look more like entertainment centre.
Foodworld : A small Foodworld outlet is there. Most of the FMCG are avaliable here. But again, doesn’t have variety , only common items.
Sports shop : Good collection of sports accessories and apparals from Nike, Reebok and Adidas. It has got nice varities as well
Gymkhana Club also possess a nice Tennis court. But, there is too much of rush out there.
Last but not the least, it has got amazing bars.. with best of Liquor. If you are a couple in your fifties and above, this place is heaven for you. Youngsters, please don’t. If you expect to see nice girls out here..buddy you’ll only find Miss India 1965.
