Thanks to my summer vacations Ill finally get to watch almost all the hindi movies for the next two months or so. The bad news however are that I might write reviews on a few of those(LOL).I just watched the new flick Haasil and I believe its a movie worth watching. Here are my thoughts on the movie:
Cast: Jimmy Shergil, Hrishita Bhatt, Irfan Khan, Ashutosh Rana.
Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia.
Music: Jatin Lalit
Plot
Irfan Khan and Ashutosh Rana are two college going students who are competing for the college elections and their conflict is really ruining the atmosphere of the college. Jimmy somehow finds himself as a part of the Irfan Khan group which later on shapes the whole story of this movie. Jimmy is in love with Hrishita Bhatt but luckily for us, its not a regular college love story. The focus is supposed to be on the politics in college which is maintained throughout the movie expect during the songs. The movie goes on at a decent pace, however the climax according to me is a bit streched. The performances given by everyone are praiseworthy.
PROS
The highlight of this movie is Irfan Khan. His acting keeps us glued to the screen and his dialogue delivery is simply amazing in this movie. The movie is not filmi and seems realistic for most parts. The father-son relationship between Jimmy and his Dad is something we can easily find in our society. The director has tried to portray a serious subject and I for one was happy not to see Johnny Lever as a college going student. Jimmy Shergil after a long time has given a good performance and Hrishita Bhatt looks promising. Also director Tigmanshu Dhulia has done a good job and we can expect better movies from him.
CONS
There is way too much violence shown in the college and I am not sure if it exists anywhere in India. Also the music is not impressive at all. The songs are not required at all in the script and the director could have left them out of the movie. There are scenes where the movie seems to be losing pace and seems sort of boring.
CONCLUSION
Overall its a movie worth watching at least once. I would be surprised if Irfan Khan doesnt wins an award at the end of the year because I doubt someone surpassing him with a better performance. The movie is about a subject that we havent seen yet so I would recommend all the readers to watch this movie.
