Haider Movie Review

The choice was pretty simple. Either bang bang my head watching a sea fresh divorcee dish out a tricepful yet excessive hip swaying romance with a screwed up british hindi reciting recently hogging fat free yogurt eating robot wearing what is a years worth of Fashion TV in 2 odd hours or scratch my head watching Bharadwaj & Family dish out gory adaptation of an iconically beautiful story containing a post pubescent Vivah-ik, recently boasting a fresh coat of oily muscles Shahid.

Haider is a great movie which makes you sincerely believe in the power of our Bollywood industry that seems to be now coming of age. A solid premise, a solid adaptation, a solid star cast despite a pretty gaseous Shraddha make this a top notch film. Kashmir has never looked more beautiful, characters have never seemed more real, problems have never seemed more pertinent, and the premise has never been more grey.

Rekha Bharadwaj’s songs are too good to be true. Others are good too. A couple not so.

Few basic flaws aside, the movie is outstanding and is a must watch. Beware while exiting the theatre though. All the ice in this movie will keep you frozen and is not good for your health when you’re almost out on the road in what feels like brain melting October heat. Carry your shades and drink lots of water during a few gory kill billish scenes. Enjoy.
