Haier ACs are like typical cheap chinese lower end consumer products which look very attractive from outside but fail in performance in a very short duration.
I committed the mistake of buying this model of Haier AC. Within three months of usage all plastic parts - the front cover, air filter, switch knobs started breaking. On complaining for replacement during warranty period, the company advised me to read the finer print of the warranty card which said that plastic parts are not covered under warranty. Next after 10 months of service, the gas leaked under warranty period.
The local service agents appeared to be poorly equipped and carried the AC or repair in a rickshaw. The gas leaked once again after two weeks. This process of leakage and repair continued for two months within the warranty period after which the company tried to convince me that now warranty period is over and you will have to pay for the subsequent gas leakages and repair.
I had to complain at the highest level of Haier with all previous records of complaints and repair to get the gas leakage attended fully and by that time the summer season was over. The service personnel looked completely untrained and novices besides their irresponsible attitude. In the third year, in the very beginning the gas leaked once again. On close examination of the copper tubing carrying the gas I noticed that it was very thin and fragile due to which gas leakage was occurring again & again.
Obviously to reduce the cost Haier had used substandard material. I decided to dump this AC even before it had completed three years as after repeated gas fill repairs, I had already paid a full cost of a new AC. I would suggest that even if anyone wants to buy a cheaper AC, they must avoid Haier till they properly establish themselves in Indian market.
