I always giggle when I hear that line, but it can be the truth. While men are the ones that most people think of whenever you mention going bald, it also happens to women as well. So we all need to watch how we take care of our hair.
Diet
Overall hair maintenance starts where the roots are connected to the body that feeds that hair. Diets high in calcium and proteins will help hair be stronger. There is also a genetics factor at use here as in how fast your hair can grow, but a poor diet can slow anything down. Well, anything except degeneration of the body, which speeds up when it is not given proper nutrition and rest.
Message that scalp
Run your fingers through your hair and help it maintain itself. In essence that is part of what takes place. The scalp is stimulated and thus produces more oils, making hair oilier. Which, helps protect your hair from the elements.
Washing your hair.
It differs from hair type to hair type as well as location to location, style, cut, products used as well as overall preferences as to how often one needs to wash his or her hair. But the more styling products one uses the more the hair should be washed to help avoid damage to that hair.
Do Not Over Process
If you have a permanent, and you then decide you want it colored, and then you decide you want to bleach out that color and go one lighter. That will defiantly over process your hair and cause sever damage, even temporary hair loss.
Now, while I am by no means saying that you can not dye your hair as well as perm it, there are certain precautions to take before, during and after this happens.
Make sure your hair is in the best possible condition before starting any kind of chemical treatments. I have had my hair highlighted which required bleach, and have had it permed, all at once but not done all at once. Timing is very important, because you do not want to dry out the hair too much.
So if you do wish to make these types of changes to your hair, talk it over with your hair dresser and see which she or he recommends you do first. I got my perm first, and then two months later had the highlights put in.
