Have you ever noticed certain things happen to your skin, nails, and hair in the winter? Most people notice that their skin gets very dry, their nails get brittle and break, and their hair also gets brittle. Well there are ways to help fix and or prevent these problems from occuring.
The reason they happen is because you go outside to the freezing cold temps and then you rush inside to the warm yet very dry air. You spend most of your time in this dry air which causes your skin, nails, and hair to dry out.(its kind of like all the moisture just evaporates) Using extra moisturizing lotions frequently can help the skin and nails thing, but what about the hair.
Well here is what I do. I use extra deep conditioners in the winter. I use the deep conditioner about every other day and a regular conditioner on the off days. Why? Because over conditioning causes my hair to get oily. Also another thing that helps if you are having major problems is oil treatments and hair masks.(Mary Kay makes an excellent hair mask that I would highly recommend) Another thing that helps me is not using the same shampoo and conditioner every day. Choose 2 or 3 different ones you like and rotate between them either on a daily or weekly schedule depending on works best for you. Ive found that once I use the same shampoo and conditioner on my hair for more than 2 weeks or so it does not work as well.(This is partly because of build up on the hair and partly because your hair just gets used to it and needs a new kick)
Hope this gives you some ideas and helps you with your problem.
