From thePopstar of Indian Writing, Chetan Bhagat, there comes another beautifully narrated fableHalf Girlfriend which really hits the mark and mesmerize the readers with its scene narration skills. Based on the differences betweenEnglish speaking Delhi youngsters and a prince from Bihar whose accent seems down even while speaking Hindi.
The Story unveils with Madhav Zha, a prince from the royal family of princely state of Dumraon, in Buxar from Bihar, being the protagonist. Madhav finds himself admitted in St. Stephens of Delhi University through his excellence in Basketball fulfilling the requirements for theSports Quota of Delhi University.
The story later progresses with Madhav meeting Riya Somani, the daughter of a rich man owning Somani Infrastructure. He finds it difficult to being friends with her and instantly falls for her with her treatment towards him. Chetan Bhagat catches nerve right from the beginning as he narrates the differences in Madhav and Riyas friendship. The quotes, expressiveness of the plot has been very remarkable for me.
The first spell ends on a split end, with Riya and Madhav split up as they get fighting each other over Madhavs intentions. The story further proceeds in Dumraon where Madhav reestablishes his mothers school and becomes one of the descendant to the royal family. The scene expressiveness touches your heart and make you flip the pages and dig deep in the story.
As the readers can predict, Riya comes back but with so much secrets within herself. Will Madhav be able to rejuvenate with her? Will Riya carve Madhav with the way she wants? It is better to keep the story to me.
Throughout the book, from Delhi to Bihar, and to further New York, Chetan Bhagat never disappoints with the way he has carved the plot and expressed it. One of the reasons why this book is an international bestseller.
