A remake of the much acclaimed Kaaka Muttai, this Samit Kakkad directorial is an absolute treat to watch. And the fact that every scene is an exact replication of the original wont really bother you unless you have seen Kaaka Muttai.
Half Ticket has a simple story with ample twists in the plot. It is a tale of two brothers ( Shubham and Vinayak) who live in a slum and harbour big dreams. Their father is locked away in jail and their mother ( Bose) struggles to make ends meet. The brothers help her by selling coal that falls off wagons on the railway tracks. Like any other kids, the brothers keep asking for new things to be brought in the house and when their mother wins a TV in a lucky draw contest, they are introduced to a whole new world of glamour. This is when a pizza store opens in their neighbourhood. Now, the brothers only aim is to save money and eat a pizza. But its not that easy, is it? The essence of Mumbais slums has been captured beautifully in the film. It has humour, innocence and tragedy, and you feel a little of everything while watching Half Ticket.
