Halla bol
Lets begin by asking ourselves , what is the first thing that comes up on our mind when we hear "CHAK DE" and "HALLA BOL".
Its **something like we all ( the people ) are busy approaching our lives with some inherent facts deeply embedded into our soul that nothings gonna change , and then suddenly one Savior comes and do the unexpected and changes when every other person in the society is busy believing in its own beliefs or virtues. Fact like when there was no hope for our Indian women hockey team , kabir khan came to the rescue.
Halla bol follows the same theme and transmits the message to whole society that’s its practical for "every other" person to remain rigid and not to act as we all are hypocrites and we all fear fear. Be it scholars , the engineers , writers or like in the case of halla bol the celebrities , businessman , the sadhus. Sights so prevalent even in our neighborhood with companions criticizing the drudgery of how our society is depended on corrupt officials.
There is no time to wait for the saviour as also in the past history has witnessed the likes of bhagat singh and subhash chandra bose. It is the time to act , act courageously as we all are the actual volunteers to be that ironic saviour.
Performances and plot
Pankaj kapoor has thrown out a blastering performance as sidhu while others following a less convention path with ajay devgan as sameer khan doing just justice to its assigned task. Sidhu with his unpopular theatre group stages street shows on social subjects and wants the community to realize and change as he had also earlier got transformed himself from daku to an respectable responsible citizen due to one tragic incidence. Sameer khan aka ashfaque after being sharpened his acting skills performing along with sidhu follows his dreams and ends up being a superstar and thereby losing all his values and character. It is here the film throws light on social stigmas such as casting couch and the tantrums of celebrities.
One** incident and the whole world comes crashing on sameer khan. He Suddenly starts realizing his mistakes and decides the unexpected. He is all ready , embarking upon what is true and to bring justice at any cost. And then the struggle for him and his family begins. His fight is against the people who are politically strong posessing money , power and last not the least "the supporters".This film then revolves around how our demon the sidhu comes to the rescue of ashfaque aka sameer in his period of solitude where everyone from media to people are against the superstar.
The** bad guys in the movie also deserves a word of appreciation, with their realistic performances in the avtaars of minister and rich businessman not ready to give up at any cost. And Making miserable the life of sameer khan with series of incidence thrown perpetually.
Sidhu , ** having criminal record in the past is one fearless gregarious person and can do whatever it takes to make things right for Sameer Khan. His work in the film will be hugely appreciated by the masses and it definitely shifts the movie to an altogether different level where the entire movie succeeds in delivering an worthy punch of entertainment.
Music** is decent enough with good background score wherever required by Sukhwinder Singh. Movie is bit hilarious at times with sensible humour thrown in. Applause by audiences at some points in the movie can be a common sight and you should not hesitate to do this favour first !.
Where **one left unsatisfied can be at the ending. With lots of things occuring quickly, as the pace at which the society starts realising what’s right and when finally gets ready to "halla-bol " makes you think and think.......It makes you think of the misery of jessica lal , the honest effort of aamir’s narmada bachao andolan and at much grass root level of ourselves as we still hesitate to help someone in need.
*so now is the time to change , halla bol........
Lastly , an honest effort by the makers of the film by making use of the correct platform (cinema) to show the darker sides of social animals, the society , the us. This is an Rajkumar Santoshi’s realistic cinema.......
