?Why aren?t these papers ready by now? I was glaring at the fat lady clerk.
?Errr.?I was on leave yesterday?
?Aren?t you always? Sonika at her icy best.?And what about today?
? Well, there?s a rule?
Sheer idiocy. I was seething by now.?I thought we had covered all the rules the day before. Can?t you see this is urgent?
?Yes, but?.?
My temper had flashed red hot by this time.
?If you can?t do it, just give them to me.? I snatched the papers out of her hand. She fled as fast as her fat little feet would carry her.
Ah, victory! But only momentary.
I wish I had dealt with that better.
Anger is a healthy emotion.
Using this principle, I once took my paralyzing fear of cockroaches and turned it into rage. Now I can actually attack and kill the vermin.
Apart from that, anger is also a revolutionizing phenomenon. When you feel the utmost in rage and outrage is also exactly the moment that you form a firm opinion about a thing or a person. Over time, however, one gets into the habit of getting angry. As said in Disclosure?
Isn?t it delicious?
Maybe.
But the fact is?
It hurts the people around you
It disturbs your mental peace
It doesn?t lead to any lasting solution
It harms your health in the long run
I?m still struggling with my wrath. Sometimes it gets the better of me. I may may not be the best person to offer them, but here are some(tried and tested) recipes for Anger management?
1.Don?t get into the habit ? it?s a delicious release? flying into a rage, but don?t get into. Practice calmth. Practice being laid-back. Practice, after all, makes perfect.
2.Forget? don?t forgive, just forget. It?s no use digging out all another person?s faults every chance you get and then forgiving them about it.
3.Escape? Actually, this is just another form of forget. Take a bath(hot or cold, depending on the weather), take a walk, retreat into a book, call a friend, whatever. The problem often happens to solve itself the minute you stop examining it so closely.
4.Laugh? Most things that are making you mad actually have a very funny side to them, if you could only see it.
5.Rise above? Yet another part of forget? its only trivial things that make us angry, things that won?t affect our lives in the long run. A little kindness, on the other hand, goes a long way.
6.Get into the other person?s shoes? There might be point of you haven?t considered so far. Talk it out. Understand.
Some other ways out?
?Fast? Rishis and munis used to do it to rid themselves of angst. A day without food won?t kill you and may actually take your mind off everything else. Make sure to have plenty of liquids, though.
?Hit your head against a wall? This is guaranteed to take your mind off your problems.
?Ask for a raise? since this is something that is designed to take your mind off all irrelevant matters and get you back with your work.
?Do something that makes you feel sinfully guilty? for me, this means a chocolate.
?Go to MS? This is the only place you can witness a variety of conversations going on simultaneously. Comment, get commented on, analyze, evaluate, chide, support and kid who you like. Unbeatable!
And if all these fail, hey, get into that Pow-Wow(verbal, I hope). I?m with you.
From the ringside.
