Oh hello Clarice

This film began with an exciting introduction. With the scene being set it all ended up leading to an all guns blazing shoot out within minutes of the start of the film. Wow guns going off everywhere, and everyone seemingly being shot. Well that certainly seemed to pave the way for an exciting film. However, this did seem to be as exciting as it got. For those viewers who are all out action adventure types this was probably not a film for you. Neither was it one for anybody with a weak stomach, for some of the scenes could be describes as graphical in the least.

What seemed to hold this film together most of all was the performance turned in by the great Anthony Hopkins. I am a big fan of his and think he is one of the best actors in the world today. Throughout the film he was able to portray this figure of evil whilst always smiling, most bizarre. He also seemed to cope with food that was thrown on his plate, as it were. Alongside him as the supporting actor was Ray Liotta, sorry about the spelling I’m not sure if that’s correct, probably best known for his role in the gangster film ‘Goodfellas’. He seemed to play a relatively bad guy in this, however, one couldn’t help but feel sorry for him come the end.

‘Hannibal’ was a surprisingly long film and could well have been shortened by sum a bit. So if you are an impatient watcher, then maybe it would be best till this one is released on video. I found this film to be a film mainly built up from the hype surrounding ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ however, it seems to cower in the shadows of that particular film.

Well to finish off, I shall say that this is a film many will wish to see, however, they may find it more memorable for certain phrases and the moments of gore, rather than for a great storyline. However, despite all this I would still rate it as one to watch.
