Adam sandler is noted for his comedy. He has a very expressive face and that can help when you are vying for a comic role. This movie is about a boy who dreams to be a good hockey star.... a famous one ... he has exactly one talent and that is he can hit the puck very hard. but there are other essentialities to the game... he has to know how to skate and how to be accurate ... unfortunately it is not in him.
His dad only taught him how to hit the puck hard... before he could teach him another thing... his dad died .. his mom left him, so he was raised by his sweet granny ... whose house is being sold as she has not paid the taxes in decades .... so it is upto him to save his life, his grandma’s home ... can he do it? well this is what the film is all about. How he discovers his talent for golf is a nice touch to the movie. He is helping move things for his granny when couple of moving guys bet him to hit the golf ball the farthest ... and he does hit it very far ... and does it again to prove it was not fluke ...
He has a brain storm and decides to play golf for the money ... here he gets help from a famous old golfer who lost his arm to an alligator ... he tutors him, gets his anger under control and grooms him ... how ever he meets an untimely death... so there is this important tournament which is coming up next and if he can win it, all of his troubles would be over. How he wins it beating the buffoon who is the current champion is nice and cute.
Over all the movie is a comedy .. so what not to expect is turns and excitement in the script... the script is plainly fashioned.. what to look out for in the movie is adam sandler. His one liners .. his antics ... the way he hits the golf ball .... and the conversations he has ... watch it once just for the sake of laughs ... I personally feel the movie is just short of hilarious ... but it misses by a very narrow margin!
