Yes it was a funny new year for all those who saw Happy New Year. By funny I literally mean funny as I saw some really hilarious sequences from the film which I did not expect. I was skeptical about HNY because every big starrer film always disappoints ( recent being Dhoom 3) . For HNY, this is not the case as I enjoyed the 179 minutes of comedy, drama and action.
Ok so I have flattered the movie a lot and now let’s talk about the content. Well the film is by Farah Khan who made Tees Maar Khan. So she started with low expectation which actually helped her. The movie no doubt is leave your brains at home comedy but not like Sajid Khan who drills with his cheap PJ’s.
Talking about the performances, Vivaan Shah & Sonu Sood were good, Boman and Abhishek were simply awesome and adorable. My love for Boman has raised one step more. Deepika was a little disappointing but she looked really beautiful. Last but the best was SRK who as always keeps the audience gripped with his dialogues and this time his 8/10 pack abs too. I think it was truly a team effort and hence the credits will go to each star for their equal contribution. Jackie Shroff did not had much to do even though he was a crucial villain.
I was not happy with the music but the cinematography was handled very well. Overall, Happy New Year is not a bad watch at all. Keep your brains at home and enjoy this entertainer with heartfull of Indianess. I suggest you watch this film in a big screen for 2 things viz. Boman & Abhishek’s performance and the cinematography.
