Im Not Drunk its the Guitar!!!!!

The much awaited glorious moment finally arrived in my life when I visited india’s first and only Hard Rock Cafe a few days ago. It was a last minute plan, I was glancing Midday when I came across the ’Whats Hot’ section that stated Frequency will be playing Dave Matthews numbers. My boyfriend is a huge Dave Matthews fan and was dying to visit Hard Rock since a long time.So out of the blue it was decided we need to get there tonight. Post work we drove down to Bombay Dyeing Mills-Lower Parel, the location on  our two wheeler. It was three days before month end so we had a limited budget to restrict us.Nevertheless, we made up our minds and on reaching the venue realised that we have to pay Rs.50/- for parking charges. Now its ridiculously steep considering its the same charge even for a four wheeler.

It did not dampen our spirits much because once we entered the venue it took us in a trance. The 6000 square feet place is any Rocker’s delight. We got ourselves a huge, comfy and real high cushion table.

Once seated we were made to feel at home by the waiter. The menus placed in front of us left us in a dilemma. The place is not very wallet friendly when it comes to food and drinks. The cost of cocktails is the same as any other place starting from Rs 325 onwards. It is the hard liquor which is on the higher side, a small 30 ml peg of Indian whisky does cost above Rs 150/-.Also the food menu is six page long, the dishes starting Rs 325 onwards.

I stuck to my all time favourite Long Island Rs 350/- whereas my partner had a small Jack Daniels Rs 375/- . To our surprise the drinks came from the kitchen and not the bar.My ice tea was more like a lemon drink and my comrade’s whisky was a huge disappointment. It was only water with lots of ice. Like the waiter did not even ask how much water or ice he preferred, it was an already mixed drink. So we asked the guy to replace it coz when you paying a heavy price you expect a decent amount of alcohol too. He said he would remove the ice and add more whisky so that was fine.

We were just engrossed in the surroundings when all of a sudden the waiters were on the bar doing a gig on YMCA. Ok I liked it a lot even though their moves were not coordinated. The music was mostly Eric Clapton and well known rock numbers but all the old ones.

The band ’ Frequency’ started playing at 22:00 hours and they were good. I loved it when they played Hootie and Blowfish number- ’I only wanna be with you’.We wanted to stay for some more time because the music was really great. As informed earlier we were low on finance , being that time of the month, so we ordered a beer and I thought I shall treat myself a ’Cosmopolitian’ Rs 425/- , a wild mix cocktail.

For starters , you get the usual rolls, burgers, nachos and stuff like that. We asked for ’Hard Rock Onion Rings’ which is not worth the price, very oily and not yummy. You can refer to the menu online on the given link https://hardrock.com/locations/cafes3/ to get a fair idea.So our damages for the evening was around Rs 1370/- .Pretty decent taking into account how much we drank and ate for that kinda place.

Post paying our bills we looking around , the place has hot  memorabilia like the Eric Clapton dinner jacket, Madonna’s bustier, amazing guitars and stuff like that . At the Rock shop you get the Hard Rock tees starting at Rs 525/- onwards, keychains Rs 250/- and other stuff. The place even has a dance floor on top.The crowd was nice, mostly middle aged groups, kitty party women and foreigners. Overall the evening was fun filled and satisfying. The place has the captivating effect coz when you get out you wish you had stayed longer.I certainly will be making another visit and this time with more moolah. As for my review’s weird title-it was on the menu and I seem to find it very amusing!!!!!!!Keep rocking.
