Locational Significance
Its the place where river ganga touches land first time after travelling in mountains starting right from Gangotri...
This place is a node to several other hill stations.As one side U can travel to Dehradoon ( around one and a half hour) which is famous across the globe for its valleys and then to Masoorie( around four hours from HDR)..
Its the place for going towards Nanitaal and Garwaal also
Not even that..its the nodal place for going toward Gangotri, Badrinath , Kedarnath, Shri Hemkunth Saheb, Valley of flowers, Rishikesh..
So if u r going to Dehradoon, Masoori, Rishikesh, Nanitaal, Garhwaal, Badrinath, KedarnathShri Hemkuth Saheb, Valley of flowers..and many other locations...u have to reach Haridwar ..the nodal location then then proceed to these all location
Thats why its named as Haridwar..the gateway to Devine Lands’’

Haridwar... A land of temples and natural sites..
Mansa Devi..Its on a mountain on one bank of river ganga..U can do a trekking or can use the ropeways to reach this location..Besides visiting the temple..one must see the Beauty of river ganga from the top of this mountain
Chandi Devi
On the other side of the bank..Its Chandi Devi Mandir..now connected well with ropeways
Sapta rishiashram
Its on the straight road connecting Rishikesh..It has seven floors.Beautifully maintained with different Idols and statues . A life takes up on seventh floor and then u r supposed to come down from stairs visiting every floor...Every floor is dedicated to a theme
Har ki pori
This place has its religious significance.Its said that if u take a dip in Ganga at this location..U get rid of ur sins..not getting into the reasons..but I see a lot of faith in people taking a dip and uttering Jai Ganga Maiya. Even if u visit in summers when the temp. is around 40 to 42 degrees...the river ganga water will still be chilling. Its also said that a bottle of Ganga water remains as it is , even if it is kept for years..Faith again
Ganga Temple
Its located at Hari ki pori..Every evening people do Aarti of Ganga..Its the site which is to be seen...lots of lamps flowing on the river water with people praying Mother Ganga.The reflection of light of fire of the lamps all over on the water adds to the scenic beauty of this location

Being a major tourist place, Haridwar is full of Hotels and Dharmshalas.
How to reach
Connecting trains from New Delhi Station takes 4-5 hours..Janshatabdi and Rajdhani express r the best options
Or U can take Private buses starting just opposite to ISBT( Inter state Bus Terminus) in new delhi
Or take any state transport bus
Or enjoy the ride of the cab
What one should not miss
This place is famous for one of the PSUs..BHEL..BHEL has its two units in Hardwar manufacturing Turbines, Generators, Castings...So a power solution industry.
In afternoon on fridays..u can visit BHEL Haridwar , if u know somebody in there..
