I have not read any of the Harry Potter books so watching the Harry Potter series at the movies has given me some insight of the excitement that movie goers have for this movie. I saw this movie yesterday and I enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed the special effects, and the storyline, it’s plot is excellent. In both stories Harry Potter encounters adventure while on his mission at the Hogwarts School, there’s always a final destination and cause for Harry Potter’s plight.
In this episode of ’’Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, ’’ A dark legacy, and cloud hangs over the Hogwarts School and as a result, the school’s existence is in danger. Harry Potter makes more interesting discoveries of being the heir to Slitherine, and the horrible truth that lyes within the chamber of secrets.
’’Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’’ is directed by Chris Columbus and based on the novel by J.K. Rowling. Steven Kloves wrote the screenplay for this movie. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was released November 15, 2002 The running time for this movie is 2:41 minutes.
The Story
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to his Uncle Vernon’s (Richard Griffths) house after leaving Hogwats School last year. Uncle Vernon and Harry’s cousin are very mean to him, and life for Harry couldn’t be more better if he were away from his Uncle and mean-spirited cousin who out of spite doesn’t want him to return to Hogwarts School. Uncle Vernon is up to his same mean-spirited games again when he keeps Harry’s mail from him. Meanwhile, Harry gets a visit from Dobby, the house elf Dobby (voice of Toby Jones), Dobby warns Harry not to return to the Hogwarts School, and the dangers that await him if he returns.
But Harry ignores Dobby in his quest to leave his mean Uncle Vernon’s house. Suddenly, Harry gets a another strange visit from his friend Ron (Rupert Grint), who comes from a family of witches he goes to Harry Potter’s home in a flying car invented by his father. Uncle Vernon insists that Harry’s not going back to Hogwarts, but all of this changes when his friend Ron, crushes the window of Harry’s bedroom and takes him off to the train station. The boys arrive at the train station late and as a result, they’ve missed the train. But that changes too when they are met by the flying car again and off to Hogwarts School they go...smile.
Upon their arrival to Hogwarts school they run into a problem with Professor Serverus Snape (Alan Rickman) a mean-spirited man who knows of Harry Potter’s past, and destiny of becoming a great-wizard he attempts to get Harry expelled as a result, of their late arrival, and the rampage they have with a living tree because their car landed on it. Harry is not expelled thanks to Professor McGonnagal (Dame Maggie Smith), and the School Master Albus Dumbledore (Richard Harris). The battle between Harry Potter and Professor Serverus Snape continues; there are many more attempts he makes to sabotage, and kill Harry Potter. While in school Professor McGonnagal introduces the students to casting spells when changing animals into objects.
Hermaione Granger (Emma Watson) asks of the Chamber of Secrets, it is than revealed that the chamber of secrets is a dark chamber hidden in the castle that houses a monster that will ultimately destroy the students at Hogwarts if this chamber is opened. This professor also reveals the hidden dark legacy that four Professors left at the school.
After learning of the Chamber of Secrets the adventure for Harry, Ron, and Hermaione begins. They later find out of the death of a student as it relates to the Chamber of Secrets. Harry finds out Hagrid’s( Robbie Coltrane) role in the chamber of secrets that almost caused him to get expelled from Hogwarts. The final showdown begins when Harry finds a book that reveals everything of the Chamber of Secrets, and his past. Later the chamber of secrets is opened. I stop here there’s so much adventure to see in this movie you’ll find out what happens when the chamber is opened. This movie also has a happy ending that you’ll enjoy when you see see it.
Final thoughts On Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Overall I thought this was another excellent story of the Harry Potter series it’s everything I expected it to be. The special effects is much better in this movie unlike Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone there’s so much more exciting special effects to see in the Chamber of Secrets. The technology certainly looked more advanced in this movie. As for the action scenes there’s lots of well- done action scenes in this movie such as ; the flying car and Harry’s plight when almost falling from it while in the air. Harry’s battle with the monster while in the chamber of the castle, the strange visit to the dwelling of a giant spider, and the attack of more spiders that lived there. The short battle on the table between Harry, and Draco Malfoy, (Tom Felton) a boy so resentful, and jealous of Harry Potter.
As for the acting the actors did an excellent job in their projected roles. I enjoyed Dame Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, and Miriam Margolyes, that plump, and jolly little lady in her portrayal of Professor Sprout. She radiated a jolly and happy presence in this movie despite her short role. The animation was also a delight to watch I was very impressed with the appearance of the little house elf who visited Harry though out the movie, and the screaming plant roots in Professor Sprout’s class. Overall ’’Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’’ is an excellent family movie.
