I have always been a huge Harry Potter fan and stood in line with the other poor souls to get my copy at midnight. When I arrived at home, I simply couldn’t wait to read it. The story
starts off, as always, Harry is at his aunt and uncle’s house. But this time, something out of the ordinary, something puzzling, something terrifying happens. Harry is sure to get expelled.
This book has grabbed me and refused to let go. Again and again I pick it up, and again and again am I dazzled by J.K.’s unique, entertaining style of writing. Harry develops not only physically, but emotionally as well. He finds out why Voldemort gave him his legendary scar, the secrets behind it, and most importantly, he finds out the strength and courage of his friends.
Where would Harry Potter be without it’s thrilling characters? In the fifth installment, there are dozens of new, original and exciting people who either hurt or help Harry’s cause. My favorite by far has to be the dreamy, outspoken, Luna Lovegood. Imaginative and heartwarming, Luna is not afraid to speak what is one her mind. Like Harry, Luna has too lost family members and is an outcast, shunned because of her beliefs, taunted perhaps by her radish earrings and butterbeer cap necklace. She is stunning and clever and opens Harry’s eyes to things he would have overlooked had the quirky Ravenclaw not been there.
This year, Harry struggles not only with school, a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the Ministry and Voldemort, but a force even greater and more powerful: himself.
In his quest, he explores his own being and the true reason why he fights. Love and friendship.
