First of all the title “Hasee toh Phasee” is unsuitable and has nothing to do with the movie.
While I am still wondering why Parineeti Chopra ran away on her wedding day in “Shudh Desi Romance” she continues to do the same in this movie as well but on her sister’s wedding day.
Though the movie has some substance and worth a watch with your family, the plot is weak and unconvincing. Parineeti’s character is not consistent throughout the movie nor is Siddharth Malhotra’s who are shown practising the art of locking & unlocking doors while they were kids.
Either Parineeti or the Director lost track of what she was supposed to look like or act. She is shown initially as a tom boy addicted to anti depressing pills, biting the lower lip and hyper which as the movie progresses is shown to behave normal. She plays the role of a Gujarati girl - a Chemical Engineer - runs away from home for 7 years - goes to China - borrows a bomb for a project she leaves incomplete and returns back to India to seek finance from her dad to repay the loan and finish the project. The whole plot seems so unrealistic as if created only to add flavor to the story which leaves you wondering as to – why did she run away and stay away from home for 7 years when she is dying to get a glimpse of her father; then return back to rob her own father and in the process falls in love with Siddharth - the fiancé of her sister.
Overall there are entertaining moments in the movie which you will enjoy and if you can accept the unconvincing romantic plot then the movie is a one time watch.
Nothing great about the songs which are again unsuitable like the title of the movie. The climax is predictable. You may keep some tissues handy coz it does have a couple of emotional moments towards the end.
