Introduction
There are two things that are guarenteed if you go to a David Dhavan-Govinda combo movies. First, there would be lot of laughter around, laughter of all kinds, slapstick, real comedy to the vulgar under the belt ones. The second thing is you need to leave the logical part of your brain at your home else you just would not be able to digest the movie. Haseena Maan Jayegi is no different!!
The Plot
Sonu (Sanjay Dutt) and Monu (Govinda) are sons of a wealthy man Amirchand (Kader Khan). Their philosophy in life is very simple, we are born rich, so we are born to spend money and should not work in life. Their father though is concerned about his kids and decides to separate them in a bid to get them working.
So he sends Sonu to Goa on an errand to collect some money from an defaulting debtor whereas he takes Monu to his office for the office works. Sonu lands in Goa and bungles up his job straight away. Instead of going to the debtors house he goes to his neighbour Gulzarilals (Anupam Kher) house and threatens the poor guy and takes a costly necklace as collateral till the amount is paid. But, soon he comes to know of his mistake and goes back to return the necklace and then he falls in love with Gulzaris daughter Pooja (Pooja Batra), but is now afraid to ask her hand from Gulzari due to his previous behavior.
He asks help from his younger brother who promptly comes to Goa disguised as Sonus uncle and quickly talks to Gulzari to get Pooja wedded to Sonu. Then things start going wrong. Monus girlfriend, Ritu (Karishma Kapoor) also happens to be Gulzaris younger daughter and in his disguise he cannot propose to her. To make matters worse Gulzaris aged unmarried sister Santo (Aruna Irani) falls in love with the uncle disguise of Monu.
To complicate matters further Amirchand makes his way to Goa to get his sons back and the movie comes to a roaring climax. For a laugh riot check out this David Dhawan offering.
Critics Viewpoint
David Dhawan and Govinda are one of the most successful director, actor combo in the Indian film history if not the most!! With previous hits like Aankhen, Raja Babu, Coolie no.1, Saajan Chale Sasural, they had set a separate expectation from the audience for their offering.
Haseena Maan Jayegi fits nicely in the same genre. The movie is a laugh riot from the beginning till the end. The movie is inspired by an old Shammi Kapoor movie called Professor. Dhavid Dhawan brings in his brand of masala comedy into the theme.
Govinda is Indias answer to Jim Carrey and has an equivalent amount of unusual facial expressions if not more. In the dual role of Monu as well as the uncle of Sonu he does his usual excellent job with the comedy. He even manages to maintain two different tone with the uncle speaking in a punjabi accent and the original in the normal mumbaiya hindi accent. The best aspect of his comedy is his natural timing especially with people like Karishma and Kader Khan who are David Dhawan regulars.
Apart from the regulars, David Dhawan brings in Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Batra into his fold. Sanjay Dutt does a decent job of his role, though his timing is amiss in a couple of scenes. Alas, the same cannot be said about Pooja Batra. She looks brilliant till she opens her mouth, then everything falls apart. She should stick to modelling and leave acting to actresses.
The regulars Karishma, Kader Khan, Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik and Paresh Rawal all excel in their cameo roles as they have always done in David Dhawan movies.
Music of Haseena Maan Jaayegi
Like the storyline the music of David Dhawan movies also carry different expectations. No one really expects melodies from his stable, rather they expect comic songs, catchy numbers and dance numbers. Music Director Anu Malik does not disappoint on this score.
The album begins with the title song Haseena maan jayegi which a fast paced number and has better beats than https://lyrics.
Next up, we have Sharmana Chod daal, I love you bol daal a comic rap song with Sanjay Dutt, Karishma Kapoor and Govinda gyrating to the fast and peppy tunes of Anu Malik. The song became a big hit with the youth.
Next up is a technologically advanced song in What is your mobile number, what is style number. Gone are the days when people used to ask for addresses, now the trend is for mobile numbers. Again, Govinda and Karishma sizzle in this song in all kinds of crazy outfits.
Then the album has a mandatory punjabi song in Panga na le and a marriage song Dulha bhi lajawab hai to round up the album.
All in all not real great melodies, but exactly the fare expected from a David Dhawan movie. Good work Anu!!

Summary
Tipped to break the record collections of Aankhen, Haseena Maan Jayegi fell short of expectations, but still managed to become a major hit.
I would give this David Dhawan laugh riot a four star rating.
