Light hearted fun, thats it !

Goodwill pays, it surely does. only I know why I chose to go for HAT-TRICK instead of JUST MARRIED, which is a MEGHNA GULZAR film [ her FILHAAL was touching ].MILAN LUTHRIA was the redeeming factor. he has given me [ personally ] some enjoyable flicks like KACHCHE DHAAGE, CHORI CHORI [ yes I enjoyed it a lot ], and TAXI 9 2 11. "Can’t afford to miss a film with a such a good cast as good measures." I thought to myself", as I bought my ticket.

However, little did I know I was to got a surpring shock of sorts.  don’t go by the publicity stills and promos, the film is not centred about CRICKET all that much. it seems our capable director tried to bank on the WORLD CUP fever.   MILAN LUTHRIA has resorted to a multi-track script this time.NANA and DANNY’s track reminds one of KAL HO NAA HO and MUNNA BHAI slightly.Track 2, starring KUNAL KAPOOR and RIMMI SEN is basically a light-hearted interpretation of sexual jealousy.while PARESH RAWAL’s story, a bitter-sweet take on life and its complications is in complete contrast to the other two.

in the first half, HAT TRICK doesnt’ bore you. But the problem is, it is not very entertaining either. TAXArack 1 [ that of NANA and DANNY ] is slighly over-done in the first half, while Kunal and Rimmi’s story seems a take-me-seriously narrative, when it shows the scope for some good comedy.  However, everything settles down finely towards the climax. MILAN LUTHRIA shows his prowess here in his execution of the last half ’n’ hour. the film ends just when it had to. Music doesn’t add much to the narrative. actually, there was no need of songs at all, but who can argue with distributors and exhibitors afterall ?

NANA PATEKAR and PARESH RAWAL are in fine mettle. KUNAL KAPOOR is a natural. a special mention to the young actress playing PARESH RAWALs daughter in the film. she showed the apt shade of imprudence that a coming-of-age girl may possess. don’t be bothered by the BOX-OFFICE results, Mr luthria. Just keep your light hearted cinema coming in.final rating - cheersharsh
