I subscribed to Hathway on 16th Sept 2004 for a pacjage known as Silver Rush for Rs.300 which guarantess 128 kbps with 300 MB download. The installation Engineer that came to my place was a school dropout who had not seen windows XP ! He could not even figure out how to load the installation drivers (USB) for the modem. all said and done, since he could not start the service another one was deputed who was much better and experienced.
The service stopped functioning the very next day due to insufficient signal strength and I had to make more than a dozen calls to their helpline to get it started after 3 working days. Swift service from Hathway! The Service usage Website is down most of the time so that users may exceed their limits and can be billed for over usage.
The email ID fails to work for 50 per cent of the time as there is a perpetual problem with the server. All said and done a lousy server is what they have got. even the helpline is not of much help, and the Complaints one registers on their website remain open till infinity. Speeds are slow, definately not 128 kbps, slightly better than a dial up modem.
The only plus point is it is cheap. They are lethargic since they lack competition. As soon as Reliance enters the field they sure will have to pull up their socks.
