Got a 40MBPS connection around 3rd October, 2016. Hathway A/C# 1118225934
Pros:
Enthusiastic salesmen with loads of fake promises(who go to an extent of swearing on mother without even asking) to push you to get a new connection.
Advertisements, pamphlets, marketing gimmicks.
Network is upgraded in the name of maintenance every alternate day.
Cons:
List is never ending but Ill write a few of the major ones
They claim 40MBPS. The actual speed is around 7MBPS(<8MBPS. Including upload and download as per https://fast.com)
Internet is fast in the first week and it gradually reduces to 3MBPS by end of the month which is a natural phenomenon. Which means the actual download speed would be around 300Kb/s.
Every week theres some maintenance or the other and the internet doesnt work. The minimum TAT for this is 6 hours. Sometimes it happens every 12 hours. In the last 1 week the internet worked for a whopping 2 days. This again is a natural practise for any ISP as per Customer care.
Customer care representatives are so professional that they just tell you that theres a maintenance activity and disconnect. They wouldnt even take your request for cancellation of services.
Comparison with my previous experiences:
I had BeamTele which later changed to ACT FIBERNET. Ive used ACT since the days of BEAMTELE. The customer service sucks and the plans arent so lucrative but at least they provide 95% of up time and the service is reliable. Hathway provides hardly 30-40% of up time. The only reason to switch to Hathway was better FUP however most of the time Im having to rely on my mobile internet. While on ACT FIBERNETs 10 MBPS connection YouTube never had to buffer. Ironically, Hathways 40MBPS connection fails miserably. Hathways Ping tests fail though the connection is active.
