I had an broadband internet connection with Hathway for almost an year. Then I had discontinued this service as I shifted to a place where there was no coverage for them. I later learnt that the service has been shut down in complete Chennai recently.
I was in an unlimited postpaid plan (tariff Rs730/ month) As far as speed is concerned, I have not faced lots of downtime, and it has been a real "unlimited plan" (unlike some ISPs like Reliance who tell unlimited - and impose a 10gb cap)
Whenever the connection drops (almost nearly 4 times in my one year with hathway - quite okay), I have received a proper response from customer care and have attended the requests within 4 hours max. So a rating of 5 on 5 for customer service, however only problem is they will tell that they will be sending a person to collect the bill and he would never come, but I had no disconnection of service for late payments caused due to them. But this was a problem only until an e-payment system was introduced.
They also had an online interface to check on usage (this really doesnt matter in unlimited plans though). Recently I received an email from hathway - billed to me almost 7 months after I disconnected their services. I replied them stating that I had discontinued their services long time back. I came to know only then that the Hathway is to be closed in chennai.
It was a good ISP , just for some mis-communication, however since this has not had an negative impact (like disconnection of service), I was okay with them.
I did hope Hathway continued in chennai and expanded its horizons to the outers. I was even planning to go to them again, but now the whole show is closed.
