Hawkins pressure cooker is a much needed product in every kitchen. It has become my favorite rice cooker. Here is the reason
Being south Indians, we prefer red boiled rice in every day meals. As we all know, white rice can be cooked easily with any kind of cookers. It takes less time to cook and while cooking it absorbs all the water and thus enlarges.
But while coming to boiled rice, texture is different. It is thicker than white rice. Hard to break. Thus cooking time is more. I tried to cook red rice with other pressure cookers. Even after 1hour of cooking, rice was half cooked.
I came to know about Hawkins cooker in my relative’s place and just wanted to give a try.
Surprisingly cooking time was just 20mins. It was perfect! Just one whistle is enough.
It has few unique features which others don’t have. Closing as well as removing the lid is tricky here. Must turn the lid in 90 degrees to lock and release. After cooking, it will not let the pressure go out immediately. Rice gets cooked perfectly during this period. It takes minimum 30mins to release inside pressure.
Note
Must be carefull while closing the lid, otherwise you will find leakage on heating up.
Don’t try to remove pressure weight immediately after switching off the stove.
