My review is not about any particular program on HBO rather it is on the movie channel on the whole. I guess movie buffs like me have been craving for such a channel since a long time. HBO is a clear winner as far as I am concerned.
They have given other movie channels like Star, Movie Plus Hallmark and even Zee cinema for that matter a good run for their money. Star was a virtual monopoly when they entered the Indian market and were making most of the dough simply by playing with the sentiments of movie fans like me. They would show the most outdated movies that were lying in their libraries for donkeys years but, eversince HBO came into the market with the latest block busters on their channel, Star Moviess TRP ratings have gone for a parabola toss.
Now you will find star getting aggressive and trying to keep pace with HBO. Though their latest Oscar special is a clincher but HBO has a pretty decent track record so far whcih would still make it my favourite.
Another value that the channel offers (and is definitely a good one) is the limited number of Ad breaks / breathers that you would find on HBO as compared to Star or ZEE (Hallmark is the best...i guess there are not many takers of that channel). you know when you are watching a movie the last thing that you would want to experience is a good-knight sort commercial with mosquitos flying all over the place etc etc right in the middle of an action or some other intense scene. This is what makes HBO a far more likeable channel.
Last but not the least, their picture quality is also good (not to say the stars is bad or anything but HBO I find is a shade better.
