My brother got the Portege (I am not sure if it is the 7020 though) and I have played around a bit with this piece of amazing technology and am awed by its performance and looks. Its so sleek and look so great, and caught my attention at first sight. Call it Like at first sight, if you may.
Please bear in mind I am not a technical person and will use plain English.
Main thing: It does not have an onboard cd-drive, with a good reason. A standard CD-drive would simply not fit it it becoz it is so thin. But you can have an outboard DVD R/RW attached by USB. The transfer rate is 1GB per second. Yeah, I dont actually believe it myself but thats what is says when you point to the DVD Drive icon on the taskbar. So I just assume its true for the transfer rate. But the actual read speed of the drive maybe a different story. But still, if you play a movie CD, you can scroll to any part of the movie without a glitch or delay due to buffering or whatever. first time I have seen this on any computer.
It has all the recent technologies: Bluetooth, and that wireless internet connection thing, I dont remember the name... the one where you go near some building and get internet connection free.
Besides that, I dont know much detail. It has a Pentium-M processor and I can assure you, from a laymans point of view, its about as good as my 64-bit AMD desktop machine. Please bear in mind I do not have a 64-bit OS on my desktop, so the 64-bit processor might not have much advantage.
Update:
Just found out it has a finger print reader as well, besides others.
