I recently faced numerous issues with HDFC silver savings bank account.
You cant withdraw money from other than home branch: I had a/c at XXXXX Bangalore, but I cannot withdraw money from YYYYYYY branch, I produced DL as proof, but they insisted ONLY passport.
ATM retained card lost by bank itself: Last month my card was retained by ATM machine at Indranagar branch ATM. I requested bank to send it to home branch after recovery. Phone banker after 2 weeks gave me the transaction number to be presented to home branch for recieving my ATM card. But Home branch says they didnt recieve it. After one more week, my card is blocked w/o my consent and when approached home branch they asked me to get new card.
Annual debit card fee: This was never told to me when I opened the account, all I was told is to maintain Rs.5000/- avg quarterly balance. I had maintained this always but this year they charged ATM fee that too in June11.
The staff behaviour: I have account in HDFC since last 8 years but last 6 months was horrific. Staff is more interested in selling ULIPS than focussing on banking.
HDFC Branch charges Rs.53/- for attesting your print out, it charges you Rs.112 for 2 month statement print & acknowledgement.
I opened at IDBI two months back, its ZERO balance account, all fees are waived no problems faced till date, even staff is better mannered than HDFC.
Finally I have said GOODBYE to HDFC, they are living in past, today a PSU is offering unlimited access to any ATM with Zero balance account, with NIL fees on many services. HDFC is Indias so called best brand but is living in olden days!
Axis/IDBI/Corporation banks have now surpassed HDFC/ICICI in terms of service satisfaction. Many banks now have toll free phone banking. HDFC is ripping customers for phone banking.
