I can understand if you are not a customer a bank may get desperate to
sell a product in this cut throat market but I cant understand why a
bank will choose to screw the mental peace of their existing customers!
But that is precisely what HDFC Bank is doing.
My Uncle has a demat account and 2 savings account
with HDFC bank for more than 3 years but since last 3 or 4 months he
receives atleast 15 calls per month from HDFC bank requesting to open a
demat account with them. Sometimes, tehy also tell him more cok and
bull stories like he is getting a competitive offer as he has a
Reliance Money account and bla bla bla.
Incidentally the phone number they call him is same as it is recorded in HDFC bank account
details. He has told them innumerable times very politely and patiently
that he already has a demat account with HDFC and so there is no need
to call him and they should delete his name from the database so that
future such calls can be avoided but nothing is actually done. He is
now so pissed off that he is contemplating to move the demat account to
some other bank.
As a IT Professional I can understand that it is not difficult to
avoid making calls to existing customers, but this bank thinks
otherwise and has decided the screw the mental peace and tranquil of
its existing customers by giving them regular irritants. If I were the
banks head then I can tell you certainly that some heads need to roll
if they want to clear the act. They should understand that this kind of
behavior is actually detrimental for their business.
