I am not a customer at HDFC Bank but I had the opportunity of working there as an Investment Advisor for another Mutual Fund Company.
So I have an insiders insight into the working and the attitude of the bank employees.
The bank employees themselves do not know how the bank software works. I have seen them walk into the back office and discuss how to solve a particular issue. If the issue is not solved amongst themselves they very coolly tell the customer that the system is down and therefore they cannot help them at this point of time and promise to get back to them later (which never happens).
Also I have heard their phones ringing for long durations of time but they do not bother to pick up the phone. They will pick up the phone only if they have to call someone.
I have also seen this unfortunate incident wherein a personal banker had advised an old customer to invest a huge sum of money into the Equity markets which no investment advisor would ever do. This shows the lack of knowledge of the work they do.
Another incident that I saw was that one of the personal bankers was queried for his account balance which was checked and given to him. Just behind that customer was another man, shabbily dressed and he also wanted to check his balance, but was not told his balance at all. He was sent away and asked to check through Phone Banking.
Any query to the bank will only be answered by one standard reply
’’PLEASE CONTACT PHONE BANKING 2 *.’’
The bank is good only if you are a high net worth client or in other words client having an account balance of Rs 2 Lakhs minimum.
Closing your Bank is another Headache that they can give you. Your money wont reach you in days or weeks. Call up Phone Banking and a customer told that it took 10 days to close an account.
Also the ATM for the Bank is always slow or is down.
And the same is told about HDFC by my other colleagues working in other HDFC branches.
This is a really BAD BANK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
