I am writing the sad story which happened to my Grandfather aged 78 Years, with HDFC Bank.
I live in Southern Part of Chennai in East Tambaram. HDFC Bank opened their new brach , in my area, last year, in a Small Office, where ICICI was functioning before. Now ICICI has moved to a very Big Place in same area.
As ICICI Bank is existing for more than 6 Years in my Area and their good service, HDFC was struggling to get new customers, from our area.
So, they were conducting lots of street campaigns , around our place. My Grandfather met one of their reps 3 weeks before and he got attracted by the sweet words of Rep and decided to open a Saving Account with them. He decided to open the basic a/c with 2500 Min QAB and later decided to open the premier a/c with 10000 Min QAB and went to the Bank on 4th of November and Paid 15000 Rs to Start the Account. Only after paying the money he realised the worst service.
Being a Senior Citizen, he was asked thousand of questions and asked to bring 5 Different ID and address proofs to start the account. All this after paying the money. When he have 2 proofs, Voter ID and Ration Card. They asked for Driving license and PAN Card. He is 78 Years Old, How can they expect these things from him. After lots of discussion, they said they will accept this proof given, and A/C Kit will be issues in 2 Days.
Today it is 20th and Still now they have not given any thing. Grandpa, despite of old age, has walked to the Bank several times and spoke with the sales rep, several times. But No Response. The worst part, when he went to bank today, he was verbally harrassed by the sales reps and manager in front of public, stating his old age.
Sales Rep through whom GrandPa applied has asked him " Why the f**k you are opening a/c in this age, Cant you close your a s s and sit in the house?
I am in out of station and GrandPa is helpless now..
He has decided to close the account.
But I dont , is there are any conditions, to close the account, stating, this much days account should be active?
