I dont have an HDFC bank account. Last year, Ive received a credit card statement from the bank through an e-mail stating that the due is around 1 lakh. I was shocked and Ive sent a return e-mail stating that I dont have any credit card and bank account with them. After 48 hours, I was told that I would not receive e-mails in future. Again, after one month, I received another statement. This time, I called their customer service and there were options for existing customers and not for those who dont have an account with them. I sent another e-mail and I got the same old reply from them. This lasted for few months. I decided to go to consumer forum regarding this. I stopped using that e-mail. A few months ago, Ive opened that e-mail. I received monthly statements. I called their customer service and selected loan support option. At last, I got a chance to speak with them. I explained the entire thing. He asked me to drop an e-mail to loan support and gave me an e-mail ID. I did the same. They took the request and solved the issue. I wasted many hours on this. The banks should update their databases correctly and the customer service should be more effective.
