I visited Nerul branch of HDFC to preclose my FD and the team that sits in customer service at the branch was busy with social media and barely paid attention to my requirement. They did not inform me that NRE FD can loose interest if withdraw premature. I was under the impression its paid out monthly/quarterly. Had the girls there given me the right information, I would have retained my FD. In this process I lost 40, 000 INR and now the bank sends me an email that this can not be revised. HDFC might consider employing more educated, well trained and well informed staff to deal with customers. Especially NRE, as we are unaware of the rules and constant changing policies that come into play. The worst and most loss making trip to a bank. October 2021
