Last night, I was trying to book an online air ticket as I had an emergency..And the only 1 thing to my rescue was a credit card from HDFC... I needed the card expiration date in order to fill up the information on the website..I didnt have my card with me.I called up the so called customer service center and Mr Vijay S. answered the phone (1 am in the night)..
Even before I could give out my card number, he very rudely asked what this call is in reference to..On telling him why I had called, he said a "blunt NO" to me rather than a service no..he could have politely told the customer that he cd not provide me with an expiry date for the card as its confidential info..I am a customer, a real customer , calling him up to get an expiration date on my card..i need it urgently..
Do the sufficient amount of verification before giving out such "confidential" information..but dont say tht this information cant b provided...he could have done verification..he could have gone out of the way, thought out of the box to help a customer in need. I asked for his supervisor..He said he wont give the name..he wont transfer the call..and the gentleman tells me "maam do u understand English, I told you its not possible!" I asked for an escalation route..i was told to send a mail to a customer service ID which never reverts to its customers anyway..I talked to 3 reps till 3 am in the night.no one could help me out.
If this is the kind of service HDFC is providing, im really sorry to say that they will lose their customers to other banks of the same cadre..I have been a loyal customer for donkeys yrs now..But this 1 experience has changed my whole impression of HDFC- the GOOD bank..It ranks minus 100 on customer centricity on my list!
POOR POOR POOR..is all I have to say about HDFC credit card customer service..
