HDFC Bank is simply into making money but definitely not cares for their customers. Leave apart their understaning of the term "Banking Relationship".
This great and so-called customer friendly bank bounced my cheque of 11, 000 rupees because of shortage of Re.1 and 51 paise in my account and levied charges of 400 rupees for that. I couldn;t understand where the hell in world they can claim to have a relationship with their customers. This happened even after deposit of 15000 rs that happened at 12:15 PM on the same day when cheque was presented on 9:15 AM same day. I couldnt understand the process, whole transaction was done after counselling the banks tele-executive but the reply in the end was your home branch will definitely definitely (yes, 2 times) give you call within 8 hours. Its been 2 weeks since and now Im seriously thinknig of closing the account.
Similar thing happened once before between me and HSBC but the bankers were nice to call me and asked what to do for the cheque, I admitted my mistake, deposited the money within an hour and was happy in the end.
And, to the top of it, this is happening on a corporate salary accounts. As the bank is getting bigger, they are finding it difficult to manage, same story of ICICI and eventually they will go for the toss.
