I have been dealing with both HDFC and HDFC Bank and both seem to have one common thread. We dont care for the customer!
First HDFC.(Marathahalli branch and Kasturba Road Main branch both at Bangalore.)
I have a loan account with them and I relocated to US recently and I have been paying with the internet fecility as they told I can not use ECS for pre-EMI when I opened the account. Now I suddenly find they say I have to register my account to pay through internet! What do I do, I am out of the country!
Ok. When I go back to India, I give a form to convert my account to NRI account and also submit the ECS form and I do not hear from them at all, even after I ask them the status. So I assume, it is done, as I did not have any choice. Suddenly I get an email saying I need to pay and I am already overdue for a month. I reply to the email copying the lady who supposed to process my ECS forms and she writes a one-liner, please courier the check. As I do not have the checkbook for my NRE account yet, I ask her the details to do an electronic transfer and I do not hear back.
Ok I go to their web-site and get the number of Marathahalli branch and try to call, the call doesnt go anywhere. Ok. I go to the number listed in the email sent from their call centre, it says welcome to HDFC and asks me to choose a language and I choose English, the system hangs up after a few seconds. I curse my luck and try again, the process repeats several times.? You do not have a working customer support number? And this person Deepak Parekh goes and advices govt?
I am not even mentioning the running around I had to do get the loan papers accepted and approved. Not that there was any problem with the documents, but there was a lazy-bum sitting on our application for months and only we went up the ladder, that this guy started working.
And email - They want your official email? What? Now I have my company aquired and I am running from piller to post to get my email changed in their stupid system.
Worst is I do not have any forum to complain? No customer support. The number they give, just hangs up. And this person "Deepka Parekh" goes and advices the govt? Let him try to run a his corporation properly first, before claiming to be an enterpruener.
Let me reserve my review on the horrible experiences with HDFC Bank for some other time
