Guys a little addition to the review:
Since I have fairly good opinion about the HDFC Bank, I have gone ahead and opened my Companys Corporate Account with HDFC, and all my Employees Salary Accounts are also with HDFC Bank now!
They have a product called HDFC Plus, where all the chargeable services are literally free here. HDFC has given Premium Salary Account for my employees where they are also enjoying the similar facilities like (at par cheque, free DD, etc) at Zero Balance!
--------------------------- Here is my old review----------------------------
From the day of opening the account till today my experiences with the HDFC Bank are Positive.
While enquiring about the Account Opening, they explained me about all the products they are offering. After enquiring about my postpaid mobile connection the executive suggested me to go for the Freedom Account, in which you have to maintain a minimum quarterly balance of Rs. 1000, the catch is that you will be doing minimum interaction with the bank staff.
A regular savings account which asks for Rs. 5000 as AQB, is a true mixture of the New Technology and old Nostalgic Counter Banking. Staff is always cooperative.
As far as I am concerned I took the Freedom Account because having ATM in my locality was sufficient, and their phone banking is also prompt. (except that it doesnt work 24X7).
Its over two years since I have opened my account, and I had to go to the bank only once (that too for an application procedure for net transfers, which RBI has termed mandatory).
Their Credit Card offers the lowest interest rates in India and you get further rebate in the rate of interest if you are a HDFC bank customer. So it comes to around 2.2% depending upon the type of the card you have.
I receive the statements on time and whenever they have any changes in the services or their charging, I always got a letter from them.
I have never found them giving my details to any other vendor/services and they do not indulge in aggressive third party promotions as most of the other private or foreign banks do!!
A few points before one can go for HDFC bank is:
Before opening the account, please make sure that you have one branch in your locality, it actually helps!
ATM should be nearby.
Make sure to know all the charges for all the services they offer.
Whatever is coming free, just ask them till what time it is going to be free and after that what will be the charges.
There are certain services in which charges varies from some Rs. 20 to Rs. 0, depending upon the mode in which you are operating like Counter, Phone, or Net.
If you have a net connection handy, then better do all your requests, like statement, stop payment, status, etc. through it only as most of them are free!
Recently I discovered that on my Reliance Mobile, I get the full HDFC bank interface in which I can check my balances, statements and do some transactions too! You can check this with your branch!
