There has been a cheque withdrawal from my account with HDFC bank of nearly Rs. 50000. I had lost my cheque book and not informing the bank was my mistake.
However the signature on the forged cheque does not match my signature. The bank however denies this and says the signature is matching.
I have had a relation with the bank for almost 5 years now, and now suddenly they have become very indifferent to a mistake they have made. They have not even initmated me when honoring a cheque of such a big amount. I have lodged a police complaint, but the police do not seem very keen to take the matter further.
I have spoken to consumer court lawyer, and he says, if there is any process that the bank has not followed in honoring the cheque then we have a strong case against them. How do I get my money back from HDFC bank. How do I know what procedures are required for the bank to follow and if they have followed the procedure.
The person who withdrew the amount from my account has given a driving license proof which is fictictious. Any help and advice will be highly appreciated. A disgruntled customer of HDFC bank
