HDFC Customer Care - Shoddy and lousy

I lost my HDFC Credit card on 24th Jan around 8.30  in the morning on my way to work and reported lost card at about 10.30 am. While I was making the complaint(from Geater NOIDA), the customercare agent exressed surprise that a purchase was being made against that card. She, however blocked the card, but did not reject the transaction. Very surprising!On her advice, I wrote a letter about the lost card.


IN March end, I was asked to fill up a Card Dispute Form and supply several documents, to which I complied. In the men-time, I continued to get  letters and phones to pay the amount(though HDFC BANK vouches not to charge if you have not used the card).


In mid-July when I contacted HDFC Cutomercare, I was told I have not submitted the FIR yet(I filed a police complained and dropped it in the branch next door) and today(14th Aug, 8 months after I blocked the card), I recieve a letter, again demanding money plus informing that the Customer Declaration Form has not been submitted yet. These two documents were not included in their first list. Even if they are required, do these people wakeup only after 8 months?


And mind you, this is happening, when the HDFC Bank has one of the most secured networks, interlinked branches and the facility to record each conversation, its time and date and still the left hand does not know what the right one is doing. Either the machines are too sophisticated or people unqualified to use them.


Public Sector banks can be taken to task or asked under RTI, but how does one tackle this shoddy, lousy customer service?
