HDFC Bank Credit Card - The real fraud people !

HDFC Bank Credit Card - Why u want to go for this pain..???


Hi All,


I bank with HDFC for the past four years. I am much satisfied with their banking services. But 2 years back I took one HDFC Bank Silver Card. That changed my thinking drastically.


When I applied for the card, they told me that the yearly fee is Rs:500 (Silver Card), but I will get a gift coupon worth Rs:500. So first year no fee at all. When I got the first statement I had to pay Rs:500+tax. After 2 months I received the gift voucher. They told me it worths Rs:500, but I found that with that I will get some product which worths maximum 100 Rs.


I started using the card. Everything was fine since I was paying the full amount on time. But I started facing problems after a couple of months, when I decided to redeem my points. I applied for a points redemption against 2-3 items which is listed on their website. After one month, there was no reply. So I decided to call them. I made 6 - 7 calls (weekly once, I used to call them ) & spent a lot to reach the customer care representative. Always they told me that my products will be shipped soon...After a long battle, at last I got the products against my points. So it took around 3 months to get the response from them.


Again I used the card. They had another promotional scheme, in which I spent over 25000 Rs in the specified period. The assured gifts were One Holiday package & silver coin. I applied for that. No reply. I called up the customer care. He told it will be delivered within 2 weeks. That’s it. 5 months now....


Two months back I got one statement in which they charged me for two transactions which was not done by me. Again I called the customer care & blocked the card. After I gave letter for enquiry, they reverted back the amount in my account. Next month I got a credit card statement ( with new credit card number ) with some interest+tax, which I was not supposed to pay. In fact I did not spent a single paise on this card. Even I did not received the new card by the time. Also I was promised that the reward points I earned on the previous card will be shifted to this card. That was also not done. So at last I decided to discontinue HDFC Bank’s Credit Card. Now I am happily using other bank cards without any problem.


The main problems I noticed with this card are




  • No online information available about our transactions. Customer have to call up & enquire about all transaction details or else wait till the statement comes.




  • No proper customer care. Every time we have to wait 5-10 mins to speak with the customer care representative over phone.






24/7 support is not offered. Evening after 7 pm , no one picks up the phone. So it is very difficult to report lost card/block card etc.




  • Credit limit is low compared with other banks.




  • promotional schemes , redemption etc are mere cheating..Nothing else...
