I must say, they offer one of the most pathetic customer service. They have such a cumbersome process in place when their competitors like ICICI bank offers the best in class service. For some personal reasons I had to open an account with HDFC bank. I regret everyday, since I opened an account with them.
I would list down few of the problems that I faced with them:
First: I had a salary account in this bank (I regret this fact), which I have been using since an year. My account has been put on hold as I failed to make the payment. I informed them that I will certainly make it and proposed a date.
Due to some situation I tried to make the payment just a day after the proposed date and guess what? They have already ceased my account by that time without even informing.
I was out of station so could not inquire about it. However I visited the local branch of that town and got to know that this issue would be resolved from my city only.
Second: I called on theri customer care number and was updated that if I manage to make the minimum payment, my account will get released. I made the payment as guided by him by borrowing it from one of my known (thought that will return back the amount once my account will get released).
Third: After making the minimum payment, when I called again on their customer care number and inquired about the status of my account, they told that I have to clear the complete due. I was so shocked to hear this.
Fourth: Today is the last day when they were about to deduct the difference from my account and release the same. However I am still waiting for my salary account to get released.
I must say that they are simply looting their customers and whenever you turn up to their customer care they bluntly reply that they have no details and transfer your calls to here and there or in the worst case provide you numbers which do not even exist.
