Credit card fraud by HDFC Bank

Hi everyone,

I work for a leading MNC in India.

Recently, I got a call from HDFC Bank saying that I am eligible for a FREE international gold credit card since I hold a salary account with HDFC Bank and this is a corporate offer for all employees of my company.

A sales representative came to our office and took our signatures on various forms. On asking him where it is written that the charges are waived off for us, he said that we can talk to the Bank and confirm about it. So I did and the bank said yes, it is free for all employees of our company.

Now, after some days, I got two gold cards from the bank -> 1 primary + 1 add-on (which I had never applied for).

So I called up the HDFC Bank customer care to verify/cross-check.

The customer care representative told me that the card is absolutely free for 2 years and the add-on for 1 year and this offer is just for the employees of my company.

Later, I used the card.

Now, just a few days back, I got a statement from the bank saying that I have to pay an exhorbitant membership fee.

I checked with the HDFC customer care once again. Now they say they that there was no such corporate offer and they can just waive off 50% of the membership fees and rest has to be borne my me.

I checked this with my colleagues here and all of them got the same kind of statement from the bank and the same response from the customer care.

We are all very shocked by this. Please suggest us what to do now? How do we go to the consumer court or lodge a complain with the RBI. Can anyone help us?

Regards,

Anand.
