I have been reading lot of reviews about HDFC bank credit Cards and find many of the members disappointed with the service and I feel very sorry for those who have not been served properly.
I am a pretty satisfied customer and have been using the HDFC bank credit card for past 2 years now. Initially I did have my share of problems but they were resolved (Though not very promptly) but over all experience has been very satisfying. I was completely against the concept of Credit card till I came across HDFC bank credit card. Infact during one of the visits to branches, I was kind of strongly persuaded by the Banker to apply for one and ultimately I got it.
Unfortunately I lost the credit card after 6 months of usage and that?s when I had a tyranny with the customer support team. I was informed about the charges of the lost card which was in contrast to what was mentioned on the website. My emails to the customer support team did help as they waived of the charges and informed me that the information mentioned on the website was outdated and they had changed the terms and conditions, nevertheless since they had not kept me informed about it and as it was still mentioned on the website, they agreed to waive of the charges. Since then I have been One very happy customer.
They come up with some fantastic schemes like Cash on call etc. Cash on call, particularly impressed me a lot as it works like a personal finance. You can get a loan of your credit limit - NO QUESTIONS ASKED and the best part is NO documents required neither any form to be filled. All you do is call them and request a cash on call and that?s it. If you have a HDFC bank account, the money gets transferred within 48 hours. What?s more, the interest charges are in line with the regular personal loan rates available in the market and not the exorbitant TYPICAL credit card interest rates/charges.
On the customer support division, I think they have come a long way from the days when I was attended by Vernacular, Unprofessional executives to well informed and courteous executives over the phone. I remember making a big purchase on the card one day and I was called by HDFC just to confirm if I had done the large transaction. Now that is something I haven?t heard from credit users.
Over all I think its a pretty good card and have been very happy using it. One thing I would think that can add to the current services is that they should get in is that the statements should be made available online so perpetual traveller like me can check charges over the net instead of paper statements. (Thats one thing that I found very impressive with my American Express Card)
I would definitely recommend HDFC bank credit card, and I guess all credit cards are good as long you don?t land up on the wrong side of it. The purpose of writing this review is purely based on experience I have had with HDFC credit cards.
