HDFC credit card – A humilation

I would like to share my bad experience that I had with HDFC when I applied for a credit card, to be more precise, was forced to apply for a credit card.

A couple of weeks back, one guy from HDFC approached me over the telephone asking if I was interested in pocketing a HDFC credit card. Firstly I denied, but then that guy persuaded me (the only art these guys are adroit at) somehow to go for it. Next day, he visited me personally and explained some “balance transfer” scheme to me and ensured that if I would pay my last ICICI credit amount (some 18000/- odd bugs) through HDFC, I would get a HDFC credit card and a one year waiver in context of annual fee. I agreed to that and promised to give a call to that guy upon receiving the ICICI statement. A couple of days after this, I received the same but that guy was not having a direct contact number. I contacted his team leader who again ensured me that the ICICI amount would be paid before due date and in the process, I would get a free HDFC credit card. Next day, the guy visited me again and we completed all the formalities. During filling up the form, he asked for a residence landline number while I don’t have one. I receive all my credit card statements on my office address only. I told all this to him. He said that any PP number would do. So he gave me a ring that evening, and I gave him a couple of PP telephone numbers.

Just 10 minutes back, the team leader again called me in my office and told me that my application has being rejected because I didn’t have a landline number. After saying so, he didn’t speak a single more word and put the receiver down. I mean, the treatment that I came across cannot be termed as even sub-standardized. In fact, it was absolutely rubbish. These guys approached me and then in the last I was humiliated or to be more precise insulted, in such a manner that I can’t even think of. I don’t think any wise person in their wing (because the ones I came across, can’t be categorized even as professionals) would justify all this in today’s cutthroat competition in the field of credit-card vendors. I mean, vendors are there who are ready to give credit cards just on the basis of one transaction made with the help of existing card.

So I am very much disappointed with all this. All I could do is: I have already uploaded this letter as it is, on a couple of sites (the sites highlights such grievances of customers) that I have registered to. To my great surprise, one more review with the same heading i.e. “HDFC credit card – A bad experience” was already there. I have given a comprehensive form of the same to a leading newspaper, this newspaper has already accepted a couple of such drafting from my side in past. Nevertheless, after coming to know all this, three of my colleagues have already turned down the offers from HDFC to go for your credit card. Moreover, I bear one pension plan with HDFC, I have already decided to discontinue the same. It may not bother HDFC card wing because it is not related to that department but I am gonna give in written that afore-described remains the reason because of which I lost my faith in HDFC and discontinuing all my relationship with this name.
