Discourtesious and rude customer support people

I have till date never defaulted on my CC payment. I used to pay online from HDFC bank a/c. Since I got my a/c closed, I had to issue my ICICI bank cheque for payment. But what I was not aware of, that I will end-up facing humiliating customer support. Just because I have missed mentioning HDFC A/C in front of CC number while issuing cheque for CC payment. And that too I did because their statement has asked accordingly. They have forwarded such cheque to issuing bank instead of informing me to correct.  They knew that it will be returned.


ICICI returned the cheque saying “payee endorsement irregular” and they charged fine of Rs.50+ST. On top of that HDFC have charged Rs. 300 + ST, which is the fine for cheque bounce in case insufficient balance. When I have enquired them to find out, why it was fined, even though it’s not because of insufficient balance, they asked me to let ICICI bank inform HDFC bank again on what ground it was returned. I said, that they have already did, they said they want more detail on that. I called ICICI customer care, they said the communication has already been made to HDFC and if they do not understand, it there issue. I called HDFC bank again, and explained why it was returned; they were still arguing with me and humiliating me. After 10-15 mins of my explanation they agree and said the same will be reverted after 4 working days, if approved.


They could have done the same without fighting and being rude to me in the first place itself. But looks like they were never undergone any training on how to talk to customers.


HDFC cards are good up to the point where you need not call their customer care. After that it’s like humiliating yourself.


The customer support people are untrained, rude and don’t know how to address customer. They should not forget, there are other CC banks in market. And a single instance of bad behavior with customer, means losing that customer in the hands of other CC bank.
