HDFC ERGO outdid itself in trying to cheat me. It is a shame that a company with the "HDFC" tag should be so shoddy in its performance.
I had purchased a motor car Insurance policy with HDFC ERGO (number 2311200160948401000) along with my new car in 2011. Renewed it again for 2012-2013. During this period, there was a claim from my side for Rs.8120 which they paid without hassle. The shock came when I got the renewal notice for 2013-2014 for the policy which expires on 31st October 2013.
The first notice came for a claim of Rs.18, 682 - which is quite reasonable. Then comes a second notice apologizing that there was some error in the previous notice and the "correct" amount isRs. 28, 169!!! How they arrived at this ridiculous figure puzzled me. Until I added the claim amount to the previous premium amount or Rs.18, 682. You can immediately see that HDFC ERGO simply added the premium amount to the claim I made the previous cycle and tried to pass it off as the "new premium."
That way, the brilliant people thought that they could recover the entire claim amount of Rs.8120 I made in 2012-2013 and also gain some profit in the bargain (18, 682+8, 120 = 26, 802). Do they think we are that brainless for Gods sake?
I further compared their premium with others through Policy Bazaar and found similar quotes coming for as low as Rs.18, 000 to Rs.22, 000.
Friends, I strongly suggest that you avoid this company. Unless you wish to get cheated.
